LACP Services and Programs
- Administrative Services Bureau
The Administrative Services Bureau is responsible for general administrative functions, particularly those that service all intra-agency personnel, including human resources, procurement, fleet and fiscal operations. This bureau is also responsible for information systems support (I.T.), and contract monitoring.
- Facilities Services Bureau
The Facilities Services Bureau provides law enforcement services within and around county facilities, including the Departments of Mental Health, Probation and Public Social Services which are the largest of their kind in the country.
- Health Services Bureau
The Health Services Bureau provides law enforcement services to 44 health care facilities including County hospitals, multi-ambulatory care centers, comprehensive health centers, and community clinics, comprising the second largest health care system in the nation.
- Park Services Bureau
With responsibility for providing law enforcement to one of the largest parks and recreational systems in the United States, the Parks Services Bureau provides vehicle, all terrain vehicle (ATV), bicycle, foot, boat and horse patrols at more than 127 regional parks, nature centers, lakes, natural areas, golf courses, neighborhood parks, and nature trails.
- Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program is a voluntary, confidential service provided by the LACP for its employees. A sworn officer administers this service and provides assistance to employees and their families to help resolve their personal or work-related problems. The EAP offers crisis intervention, assessment and evaluation, stress reduction, referral service, and in-service training.
- Chaplain Program
The Chaplain Program provides invaluable services to Los Angeles County Police employees and their family members during times of crises. The agency's Chaplain visits employees and family members who may be hospitalized or recuperating from an extended illness, and provides emotional and spiritual support to facilitate the healing process. The Chaplain officiates at officers' funerals, offers blessing and benediction at award ceremonies and public events, and attends law enforcement memorials. The Chaplain Program provides faith-based outreach to all religious denominations.
- Reserve Program
Reserve police officers are utilized to supplement routine law enforcement deployment. Like full-time officers, Reserve officers are professionally trained and duly sworn law enforcement personnel. In most cases, Reserves are assigned to the same duties as full-time officers. Since Reserve officers have the same powers of arrest as full-time officers they are required by law to meet the same hiring, background, medical and psychological standards. Reserve police officers enjoy the challenge and excitement offered by law enforcement, as well as the satisfaction of providing a worthwhile community service.
- Explorer Program
The Explorer Program is a LACP youth oriented program. It is affiliated with the "Learning for Life" organization. Its primary purpose is to provide, through actual experience, a means by which young men and women may determine if they would like to pursue a career in law enforcement. The program also provides the LACP with additional human resources, and it opens an important avenue of understanding with an energetic group of young people.
