Sam Morales, Captain

Captain Sam Morales began his law enforcement career with the County Police in 1989. After graduating from the Rio Hondo Police Academy, he was assigned to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center where he served in several capacities including Training Officer, Bike Patrol Officer, and Court Liaison Officer. Upon promotion to Sergeant, he was assigned to LAC+USC Medical Center where he was a field supervisor. When he promoted to Lieutenant, he was assigned to Martin Luther King Medical Center as Shift Watch Commander. While there, he was instrumental in the formation of the County Police’s Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Special Response Unit, and in developing a training curriculum for that unit’s response to a WMD incident. He also completed assignments as the LAC+USC Watch Commander, the Parks Services Bureau, South Station Operations Lieutenant and Watch Commander, and the day-shift Watch Commander for Facilities Services Bureau. In 2006 he was promoted to the rank of Captain, and he returned to Parks Services Bureau, South Station as the commanding officer.
Captain Morales has completed the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Point Leadership Program. He has earned Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Supervisory, and Management P.O.S.T. certificates. Captain Morales’ leadership style includes creating a vision, serving with dedication, and performing with integrity.
Captain Morales spends his free time with his wife and three boys. The family especially enjoys camping, biking, and Little League activities.
