About LACP
The Los Angeles County Police (LACP) is a specialized law enforcement agency with a new name and image. As a result of the January 1, 1998, consolidation of the former Park Police from the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Safety Police from the Departments of Health and Internal Services, the agency began its operation as the Los Angeles County Police. Under the direction of Chief Margaret A. York, LACP employs 580 sworn and 160 civilian personnel, and has a $110 million budget. It is the fourth largest law enforcement agency in the County of Los Angeles and one of the largest in the State of California.
